Mike earned Bachelors of Science & Masters of Public Administration
from Southern Illinois University. He has been employed for the
past 13 years with the Miami-Dade County Public Works Department.
In his first position with Miami-Dade, he managed toll facilities
and was instrumental in the design and installation of one of the
earliest ETC systems in the State. Later, Mike was promoted as an
administrator in the County's Road & Bridge Maintenance Division.
In 2002, he returned to the County's Causeways Division as the
Division Chief where he oversees a workforce of 60 employees and
annual revenues of over $7 million at the Rickenbacker and Venetian
Causeways.
He and his wife Carmen have been married for 20 years, they have one
teenage son and live in Hollywood, Florida. Besides South Florida,
over the past twenty years, Mike has lived in Illinois, the Twin Cities
of Minnesota, St. Louis, the Carribean island of Margarita, and Venezuela
where he and his wife own a small coffee farm.
Mike has served as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem representing abused and
neglected children in the Florida family court system and is an active
member of the South Florida community. In his spare time, he enjoys
outdoor activities including canoeing and motorcycling.
