John H. Beck serves as Director of Transportation Services for Beck Consulting Group, Inc., a state wide DBE firm that provides representation, consulting services and lobbying to clients, in both the public and private sector. Mr. Beck's expertise lies in the transportation area with emphasis in the areas of public private partnerships; engineering and construction and operation of toll facilities; construction of roads, bridges, railroads; and eminent domain.
After graduating from the University of Florida College of Law in 1973, Mr. Beck formed a private practice in Bradenton, Florida, engaging in civil practice with an emphasis on real estate and corporate litigation. In 1980 he joined the State of Florida Department of Transportation where he primarily handled litigation work and claims bills in the Florida Legislature. In 1981 he was appointed General Counsel to the Florida Department of Transportation, serving until 1984. While General Counsel with the Florida Department of Transportation Mr. Beck was also General Counsel to the Florida High Speed Rail Committee from its creation by the Governor.
